When a young working family came to us for a kitchen renovation we knew immediately they needed more storage and better functionality in their space. The kitchen is the heart of this home and works very hard for their family. The goal was to use materials that were classic and timeless but also very durable and easy to clean.

Here’s where we started, a kitchen that lacked storage and function and the materials were very tired and worn, so it was time for a renovation.

The wood floors were beyond repair so we opted for large format porcelain tile that will hold up to heavy wear. The corner closet had to go to make way for kitchen cabinets that served better function with drawers and pull out racks for storage.

The perimeter cabinets are laminate, which is a very durable man made material that can stand up to kids touching them with dirty hands and plenty of cleaning. The island is a wood shaker door with a rustic wood grain finish that will age well over time. Countertops are a solid surface quartz from Viatera and the backsplash tile is a beautiful pale green/blue ceramic from Creekside Tile.

Kitchen renovations built around durable, family‑friendly materials create spaces that can handle real life without looking worn out. Surfaces like quartz countertops, laminate cabinetry, and large format porcelain stand up to spills, scratches, and constant traffic while still feeling warm and modern. Choosing stainless steel hardware, soft‑close hinges, and easy‑clean backsplashes ensures the kitchen stays functional even during the busiest mornings. When families invest in long‑lasting materials, the result is a kitchen that looks polished, performs beautifully, and stays low‑maintenance for years.

Recycle center tucked away in the island so there’s less bins out in the open.

Plenty of build-in storage drawers replacing that old wide open closet. Now the snacks for the kids are easily accessible and all in one place. On the right there is a lift up door to store countertop appliances. Below is a large Magic Corner pull out unit that pulls all the way out to make the most of that corner storage.
