The goal for this North Vancouver kitchen renovation was to take it from dark and dated to light, bright and highly functional. Classic timeless material selections with lots of white and pops of black and brass.

Starting with the floors, we opted for a large format 24×24 light grey tile with some visual texture to ground the space. The island custom cabinetry is a light wood flat panel laminate while the perimeter cabinets are a painted white shaker. The mix of these 2 styles creates an informal mix of traditional and modern.

The quartz countertops carry up onto the main wall behind the range and up to the ceiling. Not only is this a dramatic look, but it’s also super low maintenance. To add some character, mosaic tiles in various shades of white are on the sink wall and the bar wall.

Pops of black and brass are throughout the space, the lights, faucet and hardware. The star of this kitchen is the dramatic custom hood vent made in the same material as the white cabinet. It is a feature against the quartz-clad wall.
